Design Chair by Verner Panton

The Panton Chair was designed by Danish-Swiss designer Verner Panton in 1967. The Panton Chair is still the most beautiful modern design chair that was ever created. One The Panton Chair was one of the first chairs exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Today the Panton Chair belongs to the classics of modern furniture design.

A beautiful, well-designed, perfectly-balanced modern design icon. If money is no objection, make sure you get the original pure-white high-gloss chair which is a real museum piece.

Apple iPad Tablet on Sale

We have always loved the Apple Wonder Factory so we are pretty excited with the new Apple iPad Tablet which looks like an oversized iPhone, only even better. Apple's design has always been very space age, and the new Apple iPad Tablet is no exception. Gleaming, preferably white or aluminum, futuristic. Good modern design you would expect to find on a space ship, perhaps Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey. Perhaps it is no surprise that Steve Jobs unveiled the new Apple Ipad Table while seated in a comfy modern lounge chair next to Tulip Table designed by Eero Saarinen in 1956!

The brand new Apple iPad Tablet is a clean functional machine of wonder. Apple stated in a different way "if something exceeds the way you can understand it, it sort of becomes magical".

Should Amazon be concerned about the future of the Amazon Kindle? Perhaps it is too early to tell. Apple's iPad Tablet comes at a time when e-readers, like Amazon's Kindle and others from Barnes & Noble and Sony are already on the market. But if the immediate history of Apple could be a guideline, the Apple iPad Tablet will have a good future.

Today, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the new highly anticipated Apple iPad Tablet with onscreen keyboard at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The Apple iPad Tablet features the same minimal modern space age looks of the Apple family line including the iPhone. The Apple iPad Tablet is expected to become the hottest new gadget for everyday use since the iPhone. The Apple iPad Tablet is Apple's features the most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at a rather reasonable starting price of $499.

Steve Jobs said about the Apple iPad Tablet that it is much more intimate than a standard laptop and so much more capable than your regular smart phone. You can change the back screen any way you want. You can browse the web with it. You can turn the Apple iPad Tablet any way you want, it adjusts any way you want to use it, the screen will automatically adjust into the position you are holding it. Great for mail as well, see your inbox, push the compose button and a keyboard pops up, everything almost life-sized.

The Apple iPad Tablet's compact design makes it pretty perfect for people who frequently travel.

Overall: Apple's iPad Tablet features a 9.7" screen with a handy onscreen touch keyboard which uses the same multi-touch finger technology gestures and swipes like the iPhone. But although the Multi-Touch screen on the iPad uses the same revolutionary technology that’s in an iPhone, the technology has been completely reengineered for the larger surface, to make it extremely precise and responsive. So when you’re zooming in on a map, flicking through your photos, or deleting an email, iPad responds with incredible accuracy. And it does just what you want it to.

Super Thin: The Apple iPad Table is only 0.5" thick and weighs only 1.5 lbs.

Lightweight: One of the first things you’ll notice about the iPad is how thin and light it is. The screen is 9.7 inches, measured diagonally. So overall, it’s slightly smaller than a magazine. There’s also a slight curve to the back. Which makes it easy to pick up and comfortable to hold.

Screen: The high-resolution, 9.7 inch LED-backlit, IPS display on iPad is remarkably crisp and vivid. Which makes it perfect for web browsing, watching movies, or showing off photos. It’s also been designed to work in any orientation — portrait or landscape. And because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178° viewing angle. So you can hold it almost any way you want, and still get a brilliant picture, with excellent color and contrast.

Memory Storage: The Apple iPad Tablet will be available with either 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage. It uses what Apple CEO Steve Jobs calls Apple's own 1GHz A4 chip. The A4 chip inside iPad was custom-designed by Apple engineers to be extremely powerful, and yet extremely power efficient. So the performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a touch-based device. Which makes iPad fantastic for everything from productivity apps to games. But at the same time, the A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. And iPad is available with a choice of 16, 32 or 64GB flash storage. Which gives you lots of room for your photos, movies, music, apps, and more. The Apple iPad Tablet will include standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technology.

Battery Life: The battery of the Apple iPad Table should last about 10 hours after a full charge and could be left on standby for a month without needing any charge whatsoever. To maximize battery life, Apple engineers took the same lithium polymer battery technology they developed for our notebook computers and applied it to the iPad. As a result, you can use iPad for up to 10 hours while surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos, or listening to music.

Apps: There is going to be lots of money to be made by App makers for the Apple iPad. It is estimate that total revenue for the popular iPhone applications for example reached 1.5 billion dollars so far. "We think it's going to be a whole 'nother gold rush for developers as they build applications for the iPad," said Scott Forstall, an iPhone software executive.

The Apple iPad Tablet is a dream for all you George Jetsons out there!

Living on the Moon

We should have had colonies on the moon by now. This ad from 1968 stated 'Women of the future will make the Moon a cleaner place to live". It didn't exactly pan out as we thought it was going to be...just yet.

Space Age Interior

The Illustrated Man, a very unusual movie from 1969, features a great space age interior set. What where they smoking? That's what you will think when you start this movie, but hang in there and you will be rewarded with this fantastic all-white modern sixties interior. The modern space age house of the future has a special virtual reality room in which people can transfer back (or forward) to any time. The movie has plenty psychedelic moments over a difficult to understand story line. A must-see cult icon for die hard space age fans. You can currently view the movie on Netflix "Play on Computer".

Great for fans of Eero Aarnio, Harry Bertoia, Wendell Castle, Joe Colombo, Curtis Jerre, Guzzini, Arne Jacobsen, Laurel, Erwin and Estelle Laverne, Ueli Berger and Eleanora Peduzzi Riva, Martinelli Luce, Neal Small, Olivier Mourgue, Eero Saarinen, Verner Panton, Space Age, Kartell, etc.

Raymond Loewy DF-2000 Modern Furniture Series

We always loved these vintage out-of-production pieces designed by Raymond Loewy. The Raymond Loewy DF2000 cabinet series was manufactured by "Doubinsky Frères" in France around 1965. How did an American industrial designer like Raymond Loewy end up with a French manufacturer? Nobody seems to know.

If you love space age modern furniture, you will be hard-pressed to resist them. Unfortunately they have some design issues; they are super heavy and each of the feet was 4-parted in a star shape pattern needing an additional metal plate to hold them together. We have been waiting for someone to release them again with the slight improvements that are needed. So Vitra, Knoll, Herman Miller, etc...if you are reading this...
